Board Members play a vital role in shaping our strategy, monitoring our performance and representing the views of our Members. In 2025, there are 4 Board vacancies as follows:

You can stand for election to our Board if you have been a Member for at least two years and have spent £500 or more with the Society in the last 12 months.

As part of your nomination, you’ll provide us with an election statement where you can share your relevant skills, experience and qualifications. It’s also important that you demonstrate your commitment to co-operative values and principles.

If elected, you’ll attend monthly Board meetings (usually at our Support Centre in Lichfield) as well as Committee meetings and meetings with our Members. The position also requires you to represent our Society and Members at events. We’ll provide training and development to support you in your role so you can really make a difference.

Membership and Community Councils (MCCs)


Membership and Community Councils (MCCs) consist of local Members who are passionate about their community and want to make a difference by helping to organise events and activities in their area.

You can nominate yourself to join one of our MCCs if you have been a Member for at least 6 months. As a passionate Member of Central Co-op and a supporter of your local community, you’ll need to spend at least £300 each year with the Society if you’re elected.
