Getting the most out of your new membership app


What’s changing?


Over the past year, we’ve gathered feedback from nearly 20,000 Members to make your Membership even more meaningful. Our Members told us that they wanted instant reward in the form of cashback onto their Membership cards instead of discounts or tiered pricing and we’ve listened.

We’re moving away from Member prices and instead giving you the money back on to your Membership card through ‘Reward ££s’. If you use the app, you’ll also have access to exclusive offers, and games to win prizes.

Why have you moved away from Member prices?


We spoke to over 20,000 Members, and they told us that they wanted instant cashback instead of discounts or tiered pricing or discounts. We’ve listened and replaced our Member prices with Reward ££s. You’ll earn Reward ££s on the same products which previously had Member prices, which you can save up to treat yourself, or spend in-store to lower the cost of your shop.

What’s staying the same?


Members will still pay £1 to join and own a share in the business. You’ll still be able to join over the phone or online, and you’ll have a vote in the AGM. Our profits will still go back to our Members and our communities, you’ll still earn points when you shop which will be converted to your share of our profits once a year. We’ll also still give a portion of our profits back to our communities through our Community Support Fund (previously called Community Dividend).

What are Reward ££s?


Rewards ££s are instant rewards you can earn from buying selected products, or through winning selected games. They are added to your ‘Member pot’ and you can save them up or spend them in-store. You can use your Reward ££s from your next purchase up to 12 months after they’ve been added to your Member pot and can be used as full or part payment for purchases in a participating Central Co-op store.

You can’t exchange your Reward ££s for cash.

What is my Member pot?


Your Member pot is a virtual pot that holds both your Reward ££s and your share of the profits payout. It shows you how much you have to spend with us in-store. You can see how much you have on the app or you can ask a colleague in-store.

How can I join?


You can join by scanning a QR code in store, searching Central Co-op Membership on your app store, by visiting www.centralcoop.co.uk or calling us on 0800 050 1601 (9am-5pm Mon-Fri). We’ll need to take a £1 payment for you to join, this can be done online or over the phone.

How do I see what I’ve earnt?


If you’re using the app, you can see your Member pot grow as soon as you’ve bought a product with Reward ££s available. If you’re not using the app, you can ask a colleague in-store to see how much you’ve earnt on your shop.

How can I spend what I’ve earnt?


You can spend your Reward ££s in-store from your next purchase. You can use your Reward ££s for up to 12 months after they’ve been added to your Member pot and can be used as full or part payment for purchases in a participating Central Co-op store.

You can’t exchange your Reward ££s for cash.

Does the change effect my dividend?


This doesn’t impact your dividend. The “Member Pot” will now include both your Share of the Profits (Dividends) and your Reward ££s balance. You can view and manage your Member Pot balance through the Central Co-op mobile app.

Can I still use my physical Membership card?


Yes, you can still use your physical Member card to earn and spend Reward ££s & collect points. The app also has a digital version of your card that can be scanned at the till.

Where can I find my rewards and winnings?


You can find all your Reward ££s, exclusive offers, and prizes in the app. Your Member pot will update instantly as you earn rewards, so you can see your balance grow.

If you don’t have access to a smart phone, you can login to your Members account via a laptop or desktop computer to play available games, activate offers and see Member pot balance. Just visit https://membership.centralengland.coop/

If you don’t have access to any online account, you can ask a colleague in store to scan your Membership card and either tell you your balance or print a ‘Member pot statement’

How do I spend what I’ve earned?


Your Reward ££s are loaded directly onto your Member card (physical card and in app). When you are ready to pay in-store, simply scan your app’s digital card or your physical card at the till. Your balance will be displayed, and you can choose how much you would like to use to pay for your purchase. This will be automatically applied and deducted from the total amount.

Can I get my Reward ££s in cash?


No, Reward ££s can only be redeemed as payment for products in our stores and cannot be exchanged for cash.

I’ve forgotten my password or want to change it.


From the log-in screen, tap the “Forgot Password” link and follow the instructions.

How do I find my digital Member card?


Once you are logged in to the app, your digital Member card is located in the ‘in store’ section. You can use it to scan at the till just as you would with your physical card.

I’m unable to access the app whilst in the store.


The app is designed to work without Wi-Fi, using your phone’s mobile data. If you are having trouble, please check your phone’s internet connection. If the problem continues, try closing and reopening the app.

You can also add your card to your device’s wallet via the ‘in store’ section of the app. This means you’ll always have access to you digital Membership card, even when you have no connection.

What happens if I forget my device?


Don’t worry! Your physical Member card works just as it always has. You can still collect points, earn and spend Reward ££s. However, you will need your phone to activate new app-exclusive offers or play games.

The app isn’t working, what should I do?


If the app is freezing or not working properly, try these simple steps:

  1. Force quit the app and re-open it.
  2. Check for app updates in your app store.
  3. As a last resort, delete the app and reinstall it. You won’t lose any of your rewards or data.
