Welcoming Chelmsford Star members, customers and colleagues to Central Co-op

Following member approval at two Special General Meetings earlier this summer, Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society has now transferred to be part of Central Co-op (effective 15 September 2025). Today marks the start of a new chapter together, stronger as a Society and still rooted in local communities.

What this means for you

For members & customers joining Central Co-op from Chelmsford Star

• Your local stores and services continue as normal.
• Keep using your Chelmsford Star membership card, your member benefits stay the same.
• For Chelmsford Star Travel customers: the branch is open as usual. Same team, same great service.

For colleagues transferring to Central Co-op from Chelmsford Star

• There are no immediate changes and most integration work will happen behind the scenes, so things keep running smoothly.
• We will continue to share updates directly with you through your usual colleague channels.

Protecting Chelmsford Star’s identity and heritage

Chelmsford Star brings a rich history, deep community roots and passionate colleagues. Local leadership and co-operative values will remain front and centre. Our goal is a smooth, respectful integration that supports everyone involved.
